[On March 21, 1983, representatives of the following countries signed the Convention: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Federal Republic of Germany, Greece, Portugal, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.]

[This is the first multilateral convention for repatriating prisoners. Examples of bilateral agreements appear at I.L.M. page 542 and 15 I.L.M. 1343 (1976). The U.S. Act to provide for the implementation of treaties for the transfer of offenders to or from foreign countries appears at 16 I.L.M. 1503 (1977).]
