* [Reprinted from the text of the letter from the President, Beagle Channel Court of Arbitration, Geneva, Switzerland. On July 31, 1978, receipt of the letter was acknowledged by Her Majesty's Government, and it was stated that “Her Majesty's Government have taken careful account of the considerations set out in your letter and of the notification made by the Court and have concluded, in the light of them and of the final and binding nature of the Award which has been rendered, that their own functions in relation to this case as Arbitrator under the Compromiso and the General Treaty of Arbitration of 28 May 1902 are now to be regarded as also having been fully discharged.” That information from the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs was communicated to the two Parties on August 8, 1978.

[Communications from the Court of Arbitration to the Parties with regard to steps taken for the execution of the decision appear at I.L.M. page 1203. The Declaration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the Decision of the Court of Arbitration and the Report and Decision of the Court appear respectively at 17 I.L.M. 632 (1978) and 17 I.L.M. 634 (1978).. An exchange of diplomatic notes between Argentina and Chile is found at 17 I.L.M. 738 (1978), and an agreed minute concerning the Beagle Channel region appears at 17 I.L.M. 793 (1978).]
