83rd IFLA World Library and Information Congress

The IFLA World Library and Information Congress is the international flagship professional and trade event for the library and information services sector. It brings together over 3,500 participants from more than 120 countries, sets the international agenda for the profession, and offers opportunities for networking and professional development to all delegates. Conference theme is “Libraries. Solidarity. Society.” The Law Libraries Section, meeting jointly with the Subject Analysis and Access Sections, has a theme of “Optimizing Subject Access to Legal Resources: Solidarity in Divergence.” The Law Libraries Section will examine the transition of Poland and Central and Eastern Europe from Communist legal systems to traditional civil law systems.

LIS 2017: International Conference on Library and Information Science

LIS 2017 aims to offer a forum for scholars, educators, LIS practitioners, and professionals from different countries to share research achievements and to establish research network and to find global partners for future collaboration.

6th Biennial Conference of the Asian Society of International Law

Theme of the conference is “Asia and International Law in Times of Uncertainty.” The conference is hosted by the Korean Chapter of the Asian Society of International Law with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

EGOVIS 2017: 6th International Conference on Electronic Government and the Information Systems Perspective

The theme of the conference is Technology-Enabled Innovation for Democracy, Government and Governance. The international conference cycle EGOVIS focuses on information systems aspects of e-government. Information systems are a core enabler for electronic government in all its dimensions: e-administration, e-democracy, e-participation, and e-voting. ESIL 2017: 13th Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law

Global Public Goods, Global Commons and Fundamental Values: The Responses of International Law. The 2017 ESIL Annual Conference will explore how international law responds to global public goods, global commons, and fundamental values, examining the responses in a wide range of fields. It will also explore the legal foundation of such interests in international law. In addition, the conference will focus on whether and how it is appropriate that international law intervenes to regulate such interests, taking into account the interplay between multiple actors of international law, ranging from states, international and regional organizations, and non-state actors.

International Language and Law Association Relaunch Conference

“Language and Law in a World of Media, Globalization and Social Conflicts: Refounding the International Language and Law Association (ILLA) to make law more transparent.” The conference will focus on the current state of research in the field of legal linguistics in the context of increasing social conflicts in globalized, multilingual, and digitalized societies, bringing together the particular research traditions of legal linguistics in different countries.

ASA 2017 (Australian Society of Archivists)

“Diverse Worlds,” the 2017 National Conference of the Australian Society of Archivists will be held alongside the 2017 Information Technologies Indigenous Communities Symposium at the University of Melbourne. The program will explore questions on the diversity of our collections, our profession, and our audiences, as well as exploring the impact and potential of information technologies in indigenous communities and on traditional knowledge.

Congress of Information Professionals/Congrès des professionnels et professionnelles de l'information

The theme is “Surviving Management?” It aims to bring together librarians, professionals, specialists, technicians, and information professionals who wish to train, reflect, and share their experiences on issues related to their profession.

Internet Librarian International: Library Innovation Conference

ILI attracts hundreds of library and information professionals from around the world to exchange ideas, knowledge, and experience. The program focuses on real-world innovation, with topics including the post-factual world, tech trends, content initiatives, information in society, and the changing role of information professionals.

ITechLaw (International Technology Law Association) 2017 European Conference

AoIR 2017: 18th Annual Meeting of the Association of Internet Researchers

AoIR 2017 is the 18th annual conference of the Association of Internet Researchers, a transdisciplinary gathering of scholars interested in the place of networked technologies in social processes. Theme for 2017 is “Networked Publics.” AoIR 2017 will provide an opportunity to discuss the emergence of networked or digital publics, and their possible role in re-constituting the public sphere.

International Law Weekend 2017

The unifying theme for ILW 2017 is “International Law in Challenging Times.” Panels at ILW 2017 will examine current global challenges, potential solutions, and a broad range of dynamic issues in both public and private international law. ILW is sponsored and organized by the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA) and the International Law Students Association (ILSA). This annual conference attracts an audience of more than 800 academics, diplomats, members of the governmental and nongovernmental sectors, and foreign policy and law students.

International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) 36th Annual Course

The theme of this year's annual course is “Civil Rights, Human Rights, and Other Critical Issues in U.S. Law.” The birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Atlanta is internationally known as a major center for the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Atlanta is also a hub for the study of international human rights as home to the Carter Center, a non-profit organization established in 1982 as a partnership between Emory University and former President Jimmy Carter. Additionally, this is a crucial time in U.S. politics with the recent change in administration, especially as the changes affect the international community. The annual course will tackle these issues and more, with a special eye toward how libraries and legal information play a role.

Internet Librarian 2017

“ROI Magic Sauce: Communities, Collections, Collaboration.” Internet Librarian explores our relationship with our communities, our collections, and our collaboration. This year's tracks encompass such topics as: Discovery & Navigation, Leading Edge Tools & Technologies, Integrating Digital & Print Collections, Ebooks, User Experience, Curating Digital Assets, Web Presence Management, Social Media & Networking, Collaborating with Community Partners, Content Management and more. Speakers are knowledgeable, authoritative and focus on practical applications, new tools and techniques, case studies as well as technical and managerial issues.

Annual Meeting of the American Society of Comparative Law

“Comparative Law, Faith and Religion: The Role of Faith in Law.” Topics that the conference might address are historical or modern day attitudes that result in having faith in a legal tradition; developing religious attitudes towards secular texts such as the U.S. constitution; a comparison of secular faith with religious faith in a legal system, looking at the history and development of Western democracies; the role of Christianity in development of common and/or civil law traditions; comparative approaches to legal ethics and the influence of religion on development and implementation of ethical rules for lawyers and judges; and Islamic visions of dispute settlement and the role of Islamic law in modern day commercial arbitration.

2nd International Conference of Asian Libraries

“Expanding Digital Footprints: Role of Libraries & Information Centres.” The overall purpose of the conference is to examine whether libraries can reposition themselves as nerve centers of e-governance and digitization programs and to partner with public policy programs for building an inclusive and equal society.

ASIL (American Society of International Law) Midyear Meeting

The Midyear Meeting encompasses several events, including the Research Forum, which features cutting-edge international law scholarship by more than 70 authors; and programming for practitioners.

UIA 61st Congress (Union Internationale des Avocats/International Association of Lawyers)

In addition to the work of the numerous specialized commissions, three main topics have been chosen, which will cover: natural resource exploitation, as well as all their related problems, in the areas of human rights, environmental law, trade law, financial law, and criminal law; repairing the harm caused by terrorism, in order to determine those who are responsible and how victims should be compensated; and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

2017 LITA Forum (Library and Information Technology Association)

The LITA Forum is the annual gathering of about 300 technology-minded information professionals. It is the conference where technology meets the practicality of daily information operations in archives, libraries, and other information services.

The Forum is an ideal place to interact with fellow library technologists. Attendees are working at the cutting edge of library technology and are interested in making connections with technically-inclined colleagues and learn about new directions and projects in libraries.

ALA-ICA Annual Conference 2017: International Council on Archives (ICA) and Asociación Latinoamericana de Archivos

Title for the annual conference is “Archives, Citizenship and Interculturalism,” and themes include human rights, illicit trafficking of documentary heritage, access to information and personal data protection, and copyright and intellectual property.
