The topology of hyperbolic attractors on compact surfaces
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 11 September 2006
Abstract
Suppose $M$ is a compact surface and $\Lambda\subset M$ is a non-trivial mixing hyperbolic attractor for some $f\in\mathrm{Diff}(M)$. We show that if $\Lambda$ is a hyperbolic set for some $g\in\mathrm{Diff}(M)$, then $\Lambda$ is a non-trivial mixing hyperbolic attractor or repeller for $g$.
