¹ It is conceivable that Philostratus wrote ⋯λλα τ⋯ς ⋯ργ⋯ς ‘other pretexts not sufficient to excite such anger,’ but it is a great deal more likely that he wrote ἄλλα ἄξια οὔπω κ. τ. λ. and that the ἄξια fell out, as it easily might after ἄλλα.
