a This letter of Captain Swanley has been printed in Fenton's Pembrokeshire, 1811, Appendix, p. 27, but apparently from a less correct copy than the present (which is cotemporary), and wanting the date and superscription. We are not aware that the answer has appeared in print before, and it certainly appears to be worth preserving.
