Extract

560 Gift and quitclaim by Gerard son of William of Bearley (Burle) to Reading Abbey of all the land with appurtenances which the said William of Bearley sometime gave him in Bearley (Burghel'). To be held freely by rendering annually to John of Bearley (Burgl') 2d at Michaelmas for all custom, demand and secular service. For this the abbey has given him £10 of silver. Warranty and sealing.
