C'est en 1981 que Friedrich Katz a publié son deuxième gros livre sur le Mexique : The Secret War in Mexico : Europe, the United States and the Mexican Révolution, Chicago ; Deutschland, Diaz und die mexikanische Révolution, die deutsche Politik in Mexico, 1870-1920, Berlin, 1964.

Il faudra un jour que quelqu'un se décide à recenser l'histoire collective, dirigée par Luis Gonzalez et publiée en 23 volumes par le Colegio de Mexico (1978-1986), Historia de la Revoluciôn mexicana.
