Summary
Die in diesem Bande mitgetheilten Belegstellen beruhen, ebenso wie es im ersten Bande der Fall war, wesentlich auf eigenen Sammlungen. Dabei konnte ich mich, was das Altindische betrifft, vielfältig auf meine früheren Arbeiten berufen, es sind aber auch neue Beobachtungen aus dem Veda iiber die Bedeutung der verschiedenen Präsensklassen hinzugekommen, von denen ich hoffe, dass sie sich bewähren werden. Bei dem Avestischen bin ich noch zurückhaltender gewesen als früher. HoiFentlich nehmen nun die Kenner bald Gelegenheit, über die iranische Syntax einlässlicher, als bisher geschehen ist, zu handeln. Die Benutzung der homerischen Gedichte (denn das übrige Griechisch ist aus leicht begreiflichen Gründen wenig oder gar nicht herangezogen worden) ist mir ausserordentlich erleichterl worden durch den ausgezeichneten Index Homericus von A. Gehring (Leipzig 1891). Wie viel Zeit und Mühe mir durch dieses Werk, ebenso wie durch das ähnliche von W. D. Whitney (Die Wurzeln, Verbalformen und primaren Stämme der Sanskrit-Sprache, Leipzig 1885) erspart worden ist, habe ich während der Arbeit immer wieder mit dem lebhaftesten Danke empfunden. Im Gebiet des Lateinischen wird man besonders Plautus benutzt finden, den ich nach der höchst willkommenen Ausgabe von G. Goetz und F. Schöll zitiert habe.
