Reverendo in Christo patri ac domino Domino Iohanni, Dei gratia Eliensi episcopo, Robertus, permissione divina Londoniensis episcopus, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Mandatum reverendissimi in Christo patris ac domini Domini Willelmi, Dei gratia Cantuariensis archiepiscopi, totius Angliae primatis et apostolicae sedis legati die vicesima quinta mensis Martii praesentis [25 March 1394] recepimus tenorem continens subsequentem:

Willelmus, permissione divina Cantuariensis archiepiscopus, totius Angliae primas et apostolicae sedis legatus, venerabili fratri nostro Domino Roberto, Dei gratia Londoniensi episcopo, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Breve regium recepimus in haec verba:

Richardus, Dei gratia rex Angliae et Franciae et dominus Hiberniae, venerabili in Christo patri Willelmo, eadem gratia archiepiscopo Cantuariensi, totius Angliae primati salutem. Quia sicut satis clare scitis ad subeundem et supportandum sumptuosa et immensa onera quae nobis pro defensione et salvatione regni nostri ac ecclesiae sacrae post praesentes treugas et guerrarum abstimentias inter nos et adversarios nostros impune iunctas et signatas facere oportebit de bonis nostris absque fidelium ligeorum nostrorum adminiculo non sufficimus nee valemus, vobis in fide et dilectione quibus nobis tenemini rogando mandamus quatenus praemissis debito intuitu attentis et ponderatis, suffraganeos vestros, decanos et priores ecclesiarum cathedralium, abbates et priores et alios electivos, exemptos et non exemptos, necnon archidiaconos, capitula, conventus et collegia totumque clerum cuiuslibet diocesis vestrae provinciae ad comparendum coram vobis in ecclesia cathedrali Sancti Pauli Londoniarum, decimo sexto die Februarii proximo futuri [16 February 1394] more solito convocari faciatis et ipsos in hac parte ex causa praedicta ad subsidium in hoc casu competens et necessarium in supportationem dictorum omnium nobis concedendorum eos specialius et efficacius quo magis sciveritis aut poteritis inducatis et partes vestras ad hoc diligenter et effectualiter apponatis. Nos in cancellaria nostra de quantitate subsidii illius et de terminis solutionis eiusdem sub sigillo vestro distincte et aperte certificantes. Et hoc sicut nos et honorem nostrum ac salvationem et defensionem ecclesiae [120r] Catholicae ac regni praedicti diligitis, nullatenus omittatis. Teste me ipso apud Westmonasterium, vicesimo die mensis Decembris anno regni nostri decimo septimo [20 December 1393].
