Summary
Up to this point in the workbook, we have focused on body image, which is our feelings and thoughts about our bodies [1]. This chapter discusses a closely related, but broader, term: embodiment. Like body image, embodiment includes our feelings and thoughts about our bodies but also considers how we experience and engage our bodies in the world [1–5]. When we view our bodies as influential in the world, we have positive embodiment [3]. However, when we view our bodies as problematic within the world, we have disrupted embodiment [3].
