Summary

Preface

This book presents pediatric imaging cases that are easily missed or misinterpreted by trainees or radiologists, who do not see a large volume of pediatric imaging studies and/or do not see pediatric imaging studies on a daily basis. The book is primarily intended as a practicing tool for Radiology residents and fellows, who are preparing for the radiology core exam, the radiology certifying exam, or Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) exams. It will also provide a resource for general radiologists, pediatricians, and pediatric surgeons who want to improve their diagnostic proficiency in the interpretation of pediatric imaging studies. Pediatric radiologists may find this book useful for refreshing their knowledge on specific topics in the field. The book covers all relevant pediatric imaging modalities, such as ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound, conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, MR, nuclear/molecular imaging, and interventional radiology.

It is our goal to provide our readers with a tool to recognize and understand common pitfalls in pediatric imaging in order to reduce the likelihood of missed or false diagnoses. This book is dedicated to the children in hospitals worldwide who, hopefully, will receive more accurate diagnoses and enhanced treatment because well-trained physicians have taken the time and effort to educate themselves beyond minimum requirements.
