In the charter itself the clauses are not numbered, and the text reads continuously. The translation sets out to convey the sense rather than the precise wording of the original Latin.

Articles in italics were omitted from all subsequent versions of Magna Carta. Articles in bold are still in force according to legislative.gov.uk, albeit based on the 1297 reissue of Magna Carta.
