Ruth Bader Ginsburg is so frequently referred to as the “Thurgood Marshall of Women’s Rights” that it’s nearly become a legal cliché. And in some sense the comparison is perfectly appropriate: as head and co-founder of the Women’s Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Ginsburg devised and oversaw a brilliant and subtle litigation strategy that achieved – in just a few short years – extraordinary outcomes for women’s equality under the law.
