Summary
The conversion of these measurements to metric units is based on the International System of Units, known as S.l. The degree of accuracy used in the following tables will be quite unnecessary for most conversions; asking for 76.2 millimetre nails or a length of rope 3.048 metres long at the local hardware store may bewilder the man behind the counter.
Mr A. Gates, of the University of New England, has prepared these tables from basic data supplied by the Metric Conversion Board (Australia).
