To offer inspirational learning for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) requires some additional considerations and planning. The organisations listed below provide information or resources that support parents and teachers to deliver creative and suitable lessons that are tailored to needs.

Information

ACE Education

This provides independent advice and information on state education in England for parents and carers. Select Special Education Needs for information and guides. This is an excellent starting point with clear, well-presented information and signposting.

National Association For Special Educational Needs

www.nasen.org.uk/resources

The National Association for Special Educational Needs has a series of mini guides on a range of topics for SEN. These are free to download and are useful for teachers, parents and carers.

Learning resources and activities

Select Skipping SEN for a downloadable gentle skipping activity for SEN children. Or select the Feathers Game SEN; Wallpaper SEN; or Make a Whirligig SEN. All the activities are based on Victorian childhood games.

ADHD

ADHD Foundation: information guides

This provides downloadable information guides covering all aspects of ADHD.

Autism

National Autistic Society

This has information and advice for parents and teachers to support children with autism to learn and participate in education. It also provides links to other organisations offering resources.

Dyslexia

The Dyslexia Association

This provides information and resources for parents or carers of children with dyslexia. There is also the Empowered Parents pack to download on how to support dyslexic children at home and at school. In addition, it has resources for Educators on how to identify and support learners with SEN.

Music and dyslexia

Select Music and Dyslexia for information on the needs of the dyslexic child studying music.

Dyspraxia

Dyspraxia Foundation

Dyspraxia Foundation has a long list of information sheets available to download covering early years, primary and secondary. They offer information on recognising dyspraxia and how to make adjustments for learning.

This has a great set of resources for families and carers covering education, child development and health and wellbeing for early years, primary and secondary children.
