Summary
METHODOLOGY FOR PARTY REGISTRATION OF UNIVERSITY STAKEHOLDERS (CHAPTER 2)
We collected voter registration information for 2,190 individuals associated with 30 universities in 9 states from January to June 2009 using LexisNexis software. From a list of universities in 21 states for which voter registrations are available, with total graduate and undergraduate enrollments above 6,000 students, we selected 8 private and 22 public universities from Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Utah. Within each state, we paired FBS institutions with non-FBS Division I institutions by selecting institutions closest in enrollment size. All enrollment data were taken from the NCES IPEDS navigator Web site. We excluded all military service academies and historically black colleges and universities.
The universities were the following: FBS: Private: MA: Boston College; NC: Duke University; Wake Forest University; NY: Syracuse University; Public: AR: University of Arkansas; CO: Colorado State University; CT: University of Connecticut; LA: University of Louisiana, Lafayette; University of Louisiana, Monroe; Louisiana State University; Louisiana Tech University; OH: Bowling Green State University; University of Toledo; UT: University of Utah; Utah State University. Other Division I: Private: MA: Harvard University; NC: Elon University; Campbell University; NY: St. John's University; Public: AR: University of Arkansas, Little Rock; CO: University of Northern Colorado; CT: Central Connecticut State University; LA: McNeese State University; University of New Orleans; Northwestern State University; Southeastern Louisiana University; OH: Wright State University; Youngstown State University; UT: Utah Valley University; Weber State University.
