page 153 note 1 The reader who may be interested in this side of Theodore's work and who may not have leisure to follow him throughout his ecclesiastical career is specially referred to Miss Gardner's most interesting chapter on ‘Theodore's Place in Calligraphy and Hymnography’ (pp. 230–244) and to the Appendix following it, which contains renderings into English of some of Theodore's poems.
