1 Jebb's suggestion that Antigone's double journey may have been due to her having failed to bring the χοα on her first visit does not seem very confident. He points out that the sprinkling of dust was sufficient in an emergency (Hor. C. 1. 28. 35), and we may add that his suggestion postulates a carelessness foreign to the nature of Antigone.
