Accessory tricuspid valve is rare congenital abnormality. We describe a case of cryptogenic stroke in teenager boy caused by patent foramen ovale with thrombophilia and accessory tricuspid valve.

We present an uncommon challenging case of spontaneous thrombosis of the arterial duct and with alloimmune thrombocytopaenia in a full-term newborn who presented with respiratory distress, hypoglycaemia dispersed petechiae on the trunk, and significant haemorrhage of the umbilical venous catheter.

Many interventionists are infatuated by the recent resurgence of the coilwire design with the Super Arrow-Flex® sheath (Teleflex, Inc., NC, United States of America). This exclusive sheath is a highly flexible, durable, conduit intended for use in diagnostic and interventional procedures with several advantages and maximum effectiveness in challenging cases. We report failure to easily advance memory shape occluders through Super Arrow-Flex® sheaths larger than the recommended implant French size. We detail the technical reasons behind this non-previously reported drawback and describe benchside tests as possible solutions.

Double chambered right ventricle is a rare cardiac defect characterised by an obstructive hypertrophied muscle bundle in the right ventricle. The common associated lesions are ventricular septal defect followed by sub-aortic membrane. We report a child who had coarctation of aorta in association with double chambered right ventricle. This case is being reported for its rarity and challenges in management.

Seckel syndrome is a very rare autosomal recessive disorder also known as bird headed dwarfism”. It is characterised by proportional short stature, low birth weight, dysmorphic facial appearance, and mental retardation. In addition to its dysmorphic features, skeletal, endocrine, gastrointestinal, haematologic, genitourinary, and nervous system has been involved. Cardiovascular features very rarely associate with Seckel syndrome. We report two patients with Seckel syndrome, one with dilated cardiomyopathy and the other with multiple ventricular septal defects. Dilated cardiomyopathy and isolated ventricular septal defect have not been previously reported in Seckel syndrome. Cardiovascular evaluation should be performed in all patients with Seckel syndrome. Early diagnosis of congenital and acquired heart diseases will reduce morbidity and mortality in these patients.

Pseudohypoaldosteronism type I is caused by a peripheral resistance to aldosterone and can present with electrolyte abnormalities, poor growth, or dehydration. Although a rare disease, several case reports have been published regarding Pseudohypoaldosteronism type I in neonates and infants. We report a case of failure to thrive and hyponatremia in an infant with hypoplastic left heart syndrome who was subsequently found to have Pseudohypoaldosteronism type I.

This case illustrates acute myocarditis with complete heart block in a 13-year-old teenager as a rare complication of acute dengue illness. He required urgent temporary pacing with inotropic support and antifailure medications. Complete heart block in dengue myocarditis is an acute but reversible condition. A similar presentation in a dengue-endemic country or with a history of travelling to tropical countries warrants a suspicion of dengue infection.

We report a neonate with dilated cardiomyopathy and have echocardiographic findings consistent with “functional” tricuspid atresia. There was an echo-bright, plate-like tissue at the tricuspid valve position with no forward flow across it. This report underscores the role of right ventricle intracavitary haemodynamic influence on the tricuspid valve leaflet excursion and demonstrates a phenomenon of “pseudo or functional tricuspid atresia” mimicking tricuspid atresia in a patient with acute presentation of cardiomyopathy.

Accelerated idioventricular rhythm is a rare but benign form of ventricular tachycardia which might be challenging to differentiate from other more worrisome forms. We present the case of a healthy newborn diagnosed with an accelerated idioventricular rhythm which is spontaneously terminated without the need for medical therapy.

Neonatal aortic thrombus is a rare and critical condition that can present mimicking severe coarctation of the aorta or interrupted aortic arch. Transcatheter thrombectomy for this lesion has not been well described. We report a premature neonate with an occlusive proximal descending aorta thrombus, who underwent transcatheter mechanical thrombectomy using an Amplatzer Piccolo PDA occluder (Abbott, North Chicago, IL, USA). The procedure was successful with no subsequent distal thromboembolic events.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children is a new entity in association with SARS-CoV2. Clinical features of Kawasaki disease were noted from the first reported cases of MIS-C. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Kawasaki disease shock syndrome was considered to be a distinct and unique form of KD. We present a representative case that prove the current difficulty in clearly distinguishing MIS-C from pre-COVID-19-KDSS and emphasie the overlap of the diagnostic criteria.

Pseudoaneurysms of the ascending aorta are rarely seen in paediatric patients. They may occur following complex cardiovascular surgery and are associated with a high risk of mortality due to their nature of spontaneous rupture. In this case report, we discuss a 1-year-old paediatric patient with an ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm following Norwood Stage 1 surgery with Sano modification for hypoplastic left heart syndrome and the patient’s successful recovery following aneurysmectomy with Norwood Stage 2 operation.
