Summary

This chapter considers the international framework regulating access to and use of outer space for military and civilian purposes. It considers the incredible growth of space applications and the fact that space is increasingly a domain for the development of innovative dual use technologies. The Outer Space Treaties no longer provide an adequate framework to regulate the increasing use of space for vital services. It is important that clear rules of both military and civiilian uses of space are devloped to ensure future access to this vital domain.
