Summary
Mme. Stoltz, they say, is going back to Brazil! She has just signed her contract: 450,000 francs, insurance against seasickness, six maids and eight horses!!! A clear view of the bay of Rio, night and day! Real sunshine! Genuine enthusiasm! Rivers of diamonds! Sashes embroidered by the hands of Marquesas! Doves and negro slaves released after every performance! Not to mention free men becoming slaves! Joking apart, how could the diva resist the truly magnificent offers made her by Rio?
Well, fellow-Frenchmen, at least let us put up some resistance, and not allow our heaven to be ransacked in this manner and our stars removed by these Antipodean peoples who are all upside-down.
