Summary
Salbutamol is a short-acting, selective β2-adrenergic receptor agonist used in the treatment of bronchospasm caused by asthma and COPD. Salbutamol has been used to treat acute hyperkalaemia, as it stimulates potassium uptake into cells, thereby lowering the potassium in the blood.
