Summary
The argument's no longer with
my father's put-yer-mitts-up
cheeky-chappy face
when I ask the mirror
who the hell it's talking to;
no longer with that mad-alec
old man squaring up
for just one more
championship defence.
Now suddenly there is this
other look to answer to, gazing out
with such forbearance that it hurts. It is
the dark angel of my father's mother
telling us to be sensible,
and daring us both to contradict.
