Summary
Ivory diptychs carved with scenes of the Passion of Christ recall the Tablets of the Law delivered to Moses and the establishment of the Covenant. This chapter argues further that the Eucharist re-enacted the events of Christ’s Passion which superseded the Old Law and ivories enhance the theological framing of the sacrament.
