Embryos undergo chaotic division and decrease in quality on day 3 with a reduction in the rates of subsequent blastocyst formation. Disordered cleavage causes a deterioration in embryonic quality, here we assessed the relationship between an cleavage model in first mitosis and the chromosomal status of human embryos, and discuss the potential biological and clinical implications for the cleavage model as a single parameter that can be used to assess embryonic quality. Thirty-two infertile couples, with normal karyotypes and who underwent their first IVF cycle were recruited to donate one normal two-cell-stage embryo each for this study between 2019 and 2020. Twenty-eight two-cell embryos underwent preimplantation genetic testing of each blastomere, and four chaotic-division embryos were stained with Hoechst and cultured in a confocal laser-scanning microscopy incubator system. This system showed high specificity and PPV but low sensitivity and NPV using the CM in the prediction of euploidy, indicating that CM could be considered a screening method for embryo selection; additional observational studies using the CM to select transferable embryos are needed before it can be used in clinical practice.

As an important source of income for elderly people, pensions have a great impact on their wellbeing. There are three different pension systems in China (the Old-age Insurance System for Government Agencies and Institutions (OISGAI), the Basic Old-age Insurance System for Urban Employees (BOISUE) and the Social Insurance of the Old-age Pension for Urban and Rural Residents (SIOPURR)). This study empirically analyses the impact of various pension types on the happiness of elderly people in China and further explores the potential impact mechanism using the 2014 China Family Panel Studies data. The study suggests that first, receiving pensions from OISGAI, BOISUE and SIOPURR is positively correlated with the happiness level of elderly people. Second, the sense of happiness of elderly people who receive BOISUE is higher than that of those receiving SIOPURR, which is mainly caused by the difference in the level of pension benefits. When the level of benefits is controlled for, there is no significant difference between these two groups. Third, when they have the same level of pension benefits, the happiness of elderly people who receive OISGAI is significantly higher than that of those who receive pensions from the other two systems, which is possibly related to the hidden ‘special’ government guarantee and the difference of the growth rate of the benefit level.

Underground Nuclear Astrophysics in China (JUNA) will take the advantage of the ultra-low background in Jinping underground lab. High current accelerator with an ECR source and detectors were commissioned. JUNA plans to study directly a number of nuclear reactions important to hydrostatic stellar evolution at their relevant stellar energies. At the first period, JUNA aims at the direct measurements of 25Mg(p,γ)26 Al, 19F(p,α) 16 O, 13C(α, n) 16O and 12C(α,γ) 16O near the Gamow window. The current progress of JUNA will be given.

Formation of a nanometer-scale oxide surface layer is common when a material is exposed to oxygen-containing environment. Employing aberration-corrected analytical transmission electron microscopy and using single crystal SnSe as an example, we show that for an alloy, a second thin amorphous layer can appear underneath the outmost oxide layer. This inner amorphous layer is not oxide based, but instead originates from solid-state amorphization of the base alloy when its free energy rises to above that of the metastable amorphous state; which is a result of the composition shift due to the preferential depletion of the oxidizing species, in our case, the outgoing Sn reacting with the oxygen atmosphere.

12Cr ODS steel samples were prepared by mechanical alloying of the metal powders with 20-30 nm Y2O3 particles followed by isostatic pressing, hot rolling and final heat treatment. Evolutions of oxide particles such as YTaO4 and YCrO3 after each fabrication step were investigated by using TEM with EDS. Crystallographic correlation between oxide particles and the matrix was investigated in a HIPped sample, and interactions between dislocations and oxide particles were observed in hot rolled or heat treated sample. Size distributions of oxide particles were measured by carbon replica samples and it was found that coarsening of oxide particles from 9 to 12 nm occurred during hot rolling process. Additional isothermal annealing at 1250 ˚C revealed that phase transformation of oxide particles from monoclinic YTaO4 to face centered cubic Y3TaO7 was observed.

In this paper, we report on the experiment results of wet oxidation of Si1-xGex on SiO2. AES and XPS measurements were performed to study the effect of the oxidation on the Si1-xGex layer. A possible mechanism was proposed.

SiH4 and GeH4 Deposition and In-Situ Doping of SiGe/Si Strained Heterostructures by Rapid Thermal Process Very Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition method have been studied in this paper. Ge incorporation rate increases to a maximum value and then decreases as temperature increases, the growth rate of SiGe alloy reaches its maximum value and then decreases as Ge composition increases. Ge incorporation also enhances Si deposition rate in SiGe alloy. The Boron and Phosphorus doping would change thegrowth rate of SiGe layers and the sharp doping interfaces in SiGe/Si heterostructures have been obtained.
