Permittivity and anti-voltage ability commonly determined the energy storage density of material. Although composite could be molded easier than ceramic, its lower energy storage density prevented the material from application since the polymer usually took on poor dielectric constant. In order to enhance the energy storage performance of composite, PAn was introduced to PVDF by emulsion polymerization. SEM of the co-polymers showed that they could construct continuous media till the concentrate of aniline reached 25% while polymerizing. The permittivity of polymer rose along with the concentrate increasing of aniline and pH falling value of retreating solution. The permittivity and anti-voltage strength of composite also charged correspondingly. As a consequence, the energy storage density innovated much higher than ever. The maximum energy storage density could approach 0.9185Johr/cc.

After combining the PVDF and BST powders with different particle sizes, the anti-voltage strengths of composites was tested. Although the concentrates of ceramic were all the same, their anti-voltage strengths were distinguished. The results showed that the bigger particles or less thickness of material could benefit to the anti-voltage strength and ultimately enhanced the energy storage density of composites. Moreover, the distribution of particle dimension also influenced the strengths of materials. Composite with homogeneous particles performed higher strength than that of composites with inhomogeneous particles.

With the preparation of organic-inorganic layered perovskite-type compounds (C4H9NH3)2MCl4 (M = Mn, Cu) in solutions, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal gravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) have been used to characterize the obtained powders. XRD patterns demonstrate that the two compounds have obvious layered structures and SEM pictures reveal that both (C4H9NH3)2MnCl4 and (C4H9NH3)2CuCl4 take on obvious sheet-like microstructure. TG&DSC curves indicate that (C4H9NH3)2CuCl4 decomposes at much lower temperature than (C4H9NH3)2MnCl4.This is ascribed to weakening interactions between its organic and inorganic components, which is presumably due to the Jahn-Teller distortion of [CuCl6] octahedra.

Ceramic sintering in microwave field is a new ceramic processing method. In present paper, we detected the microstructures and boundary segregation of BaTiO3 ceramics which were sintered in microwave field. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and chemical analysis methods were employed to detect the microstructure of BaTiO3, element distribution near the boundary of BaTiO3 ceramic. The results shown growth of grain of the ceramic was influenced by impurities such as acceptor, benefactor et al, and the element distribution near the grain boundary of BaTiO3 sintered in microwave field were different with that sintered in conventional method. The boundary segregations of BaTiO3 sintered in microwave field were not obvious as compared to the conventional method because the diffusion was enhanced due to the microwave field.

In present paper a new niobate materials Ba5LixTixNb10-xO30 were synthesized by doping Li+ in the system BaO- TiO2- Nb2O5 in millimeter wave field. X-ray diffraction (XRD) quantitative and scanning transition spectroscopy (SEM) analysis were employed to study crystal structure and microstructure of reaction products. It was found that pure products could be obtained at temperature 900°, 8 min which is lower comparing with that by conventional method. The XRD data shown the crystal belongs to tetragonal tungsten bronze structure with space group P4bm. The grain size synthesized in millimeter wave field had smaller size, narrower distribution, better sinter-ability, and without hard agglomeration comparing whit that obtaining from conventional synthesis. At lower temperature Ba5LiTiNb9O30 is a tetragonal ferroelectric phase.

In present study LiMn2O4-xFx were prepared by the sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM ) were employed to detect the microstructure of the reaction products. It were found perfect crystal particles were obtained, and its' size were uniform in 1∼2 μ m. The specific capacity and cycleability were measured basing on battery program control test system. The results shown the substitution of F for O increased the specific capacity of the material at the cost of the cycleability due to more Mn3+ and less Mn4+ existed in the material. The exist of Mn3+ would reduce cycleability of cathode material due to the Jahn-Teller effect which were caused by the deformation of the crystal structure.

In the present study electronic structures of the interface between SBT and transition metal including Au, Ag, Cu, Ni, Pt were studied by employing DV-Xα method. The calculations were performed on cluster models of the interface which were SrTa8O36-M2 (M=Au, Ag, Cu, Ni, Pt, and Bi). The calculations results including Fermi level, bond order, atomic charge distribution shown that there existed significant hybridization between metal d states and the O2p–Ta3d states. The Fermi levels of the metals located in the gap of SBT and metal-induced states, and the position of the Fermi levels did not change greatly due to the different transition metals. The charge of Sr and the transition metal atom transferred to oxygen atom, so that the bonding between Sr (or metal atom) and O was almost ionic bonding. The interactions between transition metal and SBT mainly came from the Coulomb interaction.

The formation kinetics of BaTiO3 from the solid-state BaCO3 and TiO2 powder in a microwave field was investigated. The quantitative XRD analysis and the model considered the volume change between reactant and product were used in this experiment. Results show that the formation rate of BaTiO3 in a microwave field is much faster than upon conventional heating. The activation energy of the solid state reaction for BaTiO3 was measured as 58 kJ/mol. This indicates the enhancement of diffusion by the microwave heating process.

As a promising candidate of advanced smart materials Tb-Dy-Fe system has been studied for many years. It is well known that the boundaries (which exist in polycrystal and grain oriented crystals of magnetostrictive materials) heavily hinder the motion of domain walls. Therefore to eliminating those boundaries will improve their magnetostrictive behaviors to a large extent. A single crystal growth method (which is called: growth with magnetic levitation cold crucible in CZ technique) has been successfully developed in our lab. since a few years ago. Now bulk cubic Laves phase RFe2 TbxDy1-xFe1.95–2.0 single crystals with boundary free structure can be prepared. Studies have been focused on comparing the performances of polycrystal, grains oriented crystal with a single crystal of the same composition. Some results indicate that λs and d33 performed by the single crystal are much higher than the two former materials under the same conditions.

It has been proved that the saturation magnetostrictive constant λs of Tb0.2 7Dy0.73Fe1.95 single crystal is greater than the polycrystal and grains oriented crystal with the terfenol compositions, especially for its large linear magnetostrictive strain. Th0.27Dy0.73Fel.95 single crystal also can produce large force and fast, precision motion at high efficiency and power levels. A proto-type micro positioning actuator with the single crystal was designed inour lab. The structure and performances are discussed in this paper.
