The dynamics and nonlinear wave forcing of a flexible floating structure are investigated experimentally and numerically. The floater was designed to match sub-harmonic rigid-body natural frequencies of typical floating wind turbine substructures, with the addition of a flexible bending mode. Experiments were carried out for three sea states with phase-shifted input signals to allow harmonic separation of the measured response. We find for the weakest sea states that sub-harmonic rigid-body motion is driven by even-harmonic difference frequency forcing, and by linear forcing for the strongest sea state. The flexible mode was tested in a soft, linearly forced layout, and a stiff layout, forced by second-, third- and fourth-harmonic frequency content, for increasing severity of the sea state. Further insight is gained by analysis of the amplitude scaling of the resonant response. A new simplified approach is proposed and compared with the recent method of Orszaghova et al. (J. Fluid Mech., vol. 929, 2021, A32). We find that resonant surge and pitch motions are dominated by even-harmonic potential-flow forcing and that odd-harmonic response is mainly potential-flow driven in surge and mainly drag driven in pitch. The measured responses are reproduced numerically with second-order forcing and quadratic drag loads, using a recent and computationally efficient calculation method, extended here for the heave, pitch and flexible motions. We are able to reproduce the response statistics and power spectra for the measurements, including the subharmonic pitch and heave modes and the flexible mode. Deeper analysis reveals that inaccuracies in the even-harmonic forcing content can be compensated by the odd-harmonic loads.

Elsewhere I have proposed a set of rules according to which we may categorise Germanic root nouns into three chronological layers. In this article, I present a synchronic classification of all of the Elfdalian actual and potential root-noun continuants as well as their etymologies and derivational histories in light of this proposal and in order to reveal (i) some interesting aspects of the general processes involved in shifts of inflectional class, and (ii) whether or not some of these processes in Elfdalian when compared to other Nordic varieties may shed light on the cladistical status of Elfdalian within North Germanic. The analysis shows that, while those Elfdalian root-noun continuants whose ancestral forms belong to layers I, IIa and IIb generally remain stable and keep their appurtenance to the root-noun inflectional class, some of the (non-)root-noun continuants actually and potentially belonging to layer III deserve additional attention with regard to this twofold aim.

Background: In a previous effectiveness study (Havnen et al., 2014), 35 obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) patients underwent Concentrated Exposure Treatment (cET), which is a newly developed group treatment format delivered over four consecutive days. Aims: The primary aims of the present study were to evaluate the treatment results for a new sample of OCD patients receiving the cET treatment approach and to replicate the effectiveness study described in Havnen et al. (2014). Method: Forty-two OCD patients underwent cET treatment. Treatment was delivered by different therapists than in Havnen et al. (2014), except for two groups led by the developers of the treatment. Assessments of OCD symptom severity, treatment satisfaction, and occupational impairment were included. Results: The results showed a significant reduction in Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale scores from pre-treatment to post-treatment, which was maintained at 6-month follow-up. At post-treatment, 74% of the sample was remitted; at 6-month follow-up, 60% were recovered. The sample showed a very high degree of overall treatment satisfaction. The results from the present study were statistically compared with those obtained in the previous study. The analyses showed that the study samples had comparable demographic data and equal application of treatment. The outcome of the present and original study did not differ significantly on primary and secondary outcome measures. Conclusions: This study shows that cET was successfully replicated in a new patient sample treated by different therapists than the original study. The results indicate that cET is well accepted by the patients, and the potential for dissemination is discussed.

According to interpersonal theory of personality, interpersonal behaviours can be causal and maintaining factors in emotional disorders. However, interpersonal styles have not yet been investigated in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The aim of the study was to investigate interpersonal style in OCD. The Inventory of Interpersonal Problems – Circumplex was used to assess the interpersonal styles of 101 outpatients with OCD treated with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Patients with OCD had more interpersonal problems than the healthy control group. However, the OCD group presented with slightly fewer interpersonal problems than a further comparison group of psychiatric outpatients. Interpersonal style did not predict improvement in OCD symptoms. Following CBT for OCD, there were small to moderate improvements in interpersonal problems. These changes remained stable at 12-month follow-up. Although the OCD group reported reduced interpersonal problems post-treatment, the group still experienced more submissiveness compared to healthy controls. Interpersonal problems in OCD appeared to be more attributable to comorbid conditions than to OCD-specific symptoms. Although patients with OCD were found to have interpersonal styles that might cause some problems, these were minimal at baseline and did not significantly affect OCD treatment outcomes. Interpersonal problems in this population might be more strongly related to depressive symptoms than to OCD-specific symptoms. CBT was associated with slight improvements in interpersonal problems.

Background: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has been observed in a substantial proportion of patients with schizophrenia. Although cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is well documented for OCD, few case studies are available regarding CBT for comorbid OCD in schizophrenia. Aims: The study aims to present a case study to augment the limited knowledge concerning CBT treatment for OCD in patients with schizophrenia. Method: The research adopted a case study approach, with a baseline condition and repeated assessments during the 3-week treatment and 6-month follow-up period. Results: The treatment was successful and the patient achieved clinical significant change in OCD symptoms. The patient had a reduction on the Y-BOCS from 24 to 5 (79%) and from 38 to 10 (73%) on the OCI-R from before treatment to 6 months follow-up. He did not fulfil the criteria for an OCD diagnosis at the end of the 3-week treatment period, or the follow-up at 3- and 6 months. Conclusions: The results strengthen the impressions given by previous case studies suggesting that CBT may be a promising treatment for OCD in patients with schizophrenia.

LiBH4 and MgH2 both have high gravimetric and volumetric hydrogen storage densities. Unfortunately, their commercial application is prevented by high thermal stability and unfavorable thermodynamic properties. Combining the two hydrides leads to a new decomposition pathway with suitable enthalpy of reaction. However, the kinetics for hydrogen release remains an obstacle but can be improved by nanoconfinement in nano porous carbon materials. Here we report on nanoconfinement of 2LiBH4-MgH2 in Ni functionalized carbon aerogels. 11B MAS NMR reveals that the nanoconfined hydrides react reversibly with hydrogen whereas simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry and mass spectroscopy clearly show that nanoconfinement facilitates lower hydrogen release temperatures than ball milling. Furthermore, Ni functionalization of the nanoporous aerogel leads to even lower hydrogen release temperatures from nanoconfined 2LiBH4-MgH2.
