We are delighted that Professor Gang Wang of the Institute of Physics (IOP), Chinese Academy of Sciences has accepted our invitation to serve as editor for calendar of meetings and workshops starting April 1, 2010. I met Professor Wang at the 2009 Chinese National X-ray Diffraction Conference in Shanghai, China, and found that he is a very intelligent, well organized, and highly motivated physicist.

Dr. Gang Wang received his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics in 2007 from the IOP, Chinese Academy of Sciences and then did his postdoctoral research at Stockholm University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. He is currently an associate professor at IOP. His research interests include new-layered compounds, wide band-gap semiconductors, and materials characterization by various techniques, in particular powder X-ray diffraction. Dr. Wang has authored or co-authored 18 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
