Article processing charges (APCs)
This journal is a wholly open access journal, which means all articles are published as Gold Open Access under a Creative Commons licence. In many cases Gold Open Access articles are supported by an article processing charge (APC), typically paid by the corresponding author’s funding body or institution. However multiple other routes to funding Gold OA, including institutional agreements and APC waivers and discounts, are available to authors. Transformative Agreements (TAs)
We’ve partnered with over 2,700 institutions across the globe to help you publish your research Gold Open Access (OA).
If your institution has an open access publishing agreement (also known as transformative agreements), you may publish your article gold OA at no cost to you, or with a discount for your article processing charge (APC). You can also enjoy access to journals content from Cambridge University Press. Notably, the corresponding author's institution determines eligibility for a transformative agreement.

Nutrition Society members
NS members (who are acting as the corresponding author on a paper) are entitled to a 25% discount on their article processing charge. NS members wanting to take up this option will be able to do so during the article submission process.
Funded supplement articles
If an article is part of a Supplement then it will be agreed in advance whether the whole issue is to be published Open Access, with a CC-BY license. Authors will still need to complete an Open Access Publication Agreement form but will not be required to make payment for the Article Processing Charge as this should be covered by the funding body sponsoring the Supplementary Issue.
Discretionary waiver policy
If the corresponding author is from a country on the Research4Life eligibility list, they will receive an automatic full waiver (Group A countries) or 50% discount (Group B countries) of the article processing charge.
The article processing charge will also be waived in rare cases when authors and their institutes can clearly demonstrate inability to pay. To ensure availability of funding has no bearing on editorial decisions, the Editors are never involved in correspondence with authors on payment of publication charges. The author(s) must request a waiver at or before submission, before an article enters editorial consideration by filling out this form.
There are no APCs for the following article types: Editorials, Invited Commentaries.
