Daniel Gillion, Presidential Associate Professor, University of Pennsylvania, received the 2017 W.E.B. Du Bois Book Award for his book Governing with Words: The Political Dialogue on Race, Public Policy, and Inequality in America at National Conference of Black Political Scientist (NCOBPS) in March 2017.

Courtenay Daum and David McIvor, Colorado State University, presented a talk on “Democracy in America” regarding the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath in March, 2017.

Kelly Dittmar, assistant professor, political science, Rutgers University; Dan Cassino, professor, political science, Fairleigh Dickinson University; and Ashley Koning, director of The Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling—these scholars presented “What’s Gender Got To Do With It?” at the League of Women Voters of Morristown Area in Morristown, NJ in March, 2017.

Tim Fuller, professor, political science, Colorado College, gave a presentation “Restoring the Idea of the University” for the Political Science Speaker Series at University of Calgary in March 2017.

Heidi Hardt, assistant professor of political science, University of California, Irvine, has received funding from the Science for Peace & Security Programme of NATO’s Emerging Security Challenges Division to produce research and scholarly publications on women’s participation and effectiveness in the security and defense sector; an on-site and online gender awareness and sexual harassment training course tailored for civilian and military NATO staff; and a gender awareness handbook for all NATO practitioners.

Charles Lipson, Peter B. Ritzma Professor of Political Science, the University of Chicago, delivered the Walker Horizon Lecture in Political Science—“Security in Three Dimensions: A New Theory of International Relations”—at DePauw University in April, 2017.

Julia Lynch, associate professor, political science, University of Pennsylvania, delivered the 40th Harry Lee Waterfield Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs at Murray State University, in April, 2017.

Melissa Michelson, professor, political science, Menlo College and Brian Harrison presented “How to Change Attitudes toward LGBT Rights” at Iowa State University in March, 2017.
