Previous work at this centre has indicated that the roles of mature boar contact, transportation and mixing in the stimulation of puberty in the gilt need further investigation. An experiment was therefore conducted to determine the relative potency of each of these components both alone and in combination following rearing of gilts with either contemporary boars or contemporary gilts.
