Proposed Amendment to the Constitution

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  23 October 2020

Extract

This Year, the Committee on Amendments to the Constitution received one proposal for a constitutional amendment from the Executive Council. Having completed its work on the proposal, the committee will forward the amendment presented below to the Delegate Assembly. The assembly will vote on the amendment at its regular meeting on 29 December 1991. So that members may be fully informed about proposed amendments, the MLA constitution (article 13.B) requires that all amendments to be brought before the Delegate Assembly be “published in an appropriate publication of the association at least ninety days before the meeting at which they are to be voted on.” If approved by the assembly, the amendment will be submitted to the membership of the association in the spring of 1992 for ratification by mail ballot.
