Abstract

Ralph Gordon Johnson was born July 5, 1927 at Oak Park, Illinois. He died September 23, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, of cancer, after an illness of about 2 months.

For the past twenty years, Ralph Gordon Johnson contributed significantly in three areas of paleobiology: understanding the dynamics of benthic marine communities, exploring the mode of formation of fossil assemblages, and describing the remarkably preserved Mazon Creek fauna.
