This page contains information about fees that may be incurred when you publish in this journal.
We are aware that some companies claim to work with Cambridge University Press journals to guarantee publication, or to provide publishing services on our behalf for a fee. The only companies we work with to provide publishing services will be listed on Cambridge Core pages, and submissions to Cambridge University Press journals can only be made via the online peer review systems linked to from this Cambridge Core website, or else directly to the editorial offices of those journals. If you have any doubts and for more information on predatory publishing, please visit the Think Check Submit website.
To submit a paper, click on the ‘Submit your article’ button at the top of this page and follow the instructions. For information about language editing services please see this page.
Article processing charges (APCs)
This is a hybrid journal, which means it publishes articles on a subscription basis, but also provides authors with options to make their articles open access. If you choose to publish your article as Gold Open Access, this will need to be supported by an article processing charge (APC), typically paid by the author’s funding body or institution. Please see the table below for this journal’s APC fees.
Cambridge University Press has also made a number of agreements to support open access, and authors at participating institutions may be eligible for APC waivers and discounts.
For more information about publishing open access in this journal, please refer to its open access options.
Colour print charges
There is no charge for publishing figures in colour in the online version of this journal. However, authors who choose to have figures in their article printed will need to pay a fee for colour printing. The fees for this journal are displayed below. If you request colour figures in the printed version of your article, you will be contacted by CCC-Rightslink who are acting on our behalf to collect Author Charges. Please follow their instructions in order to avoid any delay in the publication of your article.
