This issue marks the beginning of my three-year term as editor, and I would like to thank my predecessor, Éric Mathieu, for handing over the journal in such excellent condition, having successfully completed the transition to our new publisher, Cambridge University Press. We also thank outgoing editorial board members Lisa Travis and Claire Lefebvre, outgoing squibs editor Réjean Canac-Marquis, and our outgoing typesetter, Christina Thiele, for their years of loyal service to the journal. Christina has been typesetting the journal for several decades, and has set a standard of excellence that we will strive to equal now that CUP is in charge of typesetting.
It has been an exciting time, with changes having taken place in almost every corner of the journal, and more changes coming soon. All in all, our first year with Cambridge is going very well indeed. We have several thematic issues in process, and a steady stream of interesting articles and squibs under review and in production.
We have expanded the editorial board of the journal significantly, giving it a greater global reach by including members from eleven countries and four continents (many of whom are expatriate Canadians). We welcome our new board members, and look forward to working with them in the coming years. I would also like to personally welcome our new co-editor, Heather Newell, and our new book review editor, Catherine Léger.
We have begun the process of implementing an online submission and review system, which will go live in just a few months. This should both reduce the work involved in tracking every submission and its status, and improve the timeliness and responsiveness of the review process.
Accepted articles are now available on the journal's webpage at CUP as soon as they are ready, which can be several months before the issue in which they appear is published in hard copy. And finally, thanks to the excellent work of the people at CUP, we have a beautiful new cover design, and a much more active marketing effort. I look forward to the challenges and surprises that the next three years will bring.
La parution de ce numéro marque le début de mon mandat de trois ans comme rédactrice principale, et je voudrais remercier le rédacteur sortant, Éric Mathieu, de m'avoir laissé la revue en excellente condition, après une transition à Cambridge University Press bien réussie. Nous remercions également les membres sortants du comité de rédaction, Claire Lefebvre et Lisa DeMena Travis, le rédacteur sortant des notules, Réjean Canac-Marquis, et notre typographe, Christina Thiele, pour leurs bons et loyaux services à la revue. Christina est en charge de la composition de la revue depuis plusieurs décennies et elle a établi un niveau d'excellence que nous nous efforcerons d’égaler maintenant que CUP s'occupe de la composition.
Les derniers mois ont été importants pour la revue, avec des changements déjà accomplis dans presque tous les aspects de la revue, et davantage de changements à venir. En effet, notre première année chez Cambridge se déroule vraiment très bien. Il y a plusieurs numéros thématiques en cours ainsi qu'un flux régulier d'articles et de notules en cours d’évaluation et de production.
Nous avons élargi le comité de rédaction de manière significative, en lui donnant une plus grande portée internationale, avec des membres – dont plusieurs sont d'origine canadienne – de onze pays et de quatre continents. Nous accueillons chaleureusement ces nouveaux membres et attendons avec enthousiasme nos collaborations à venir. Je voudrais également souhaiter personnellement bienvenue à Heather Newell, la nouvelle co-rédactrice, ainsi qu’à Catherine Léger, la nouvelle rédactrice des comptes rendus.
Nous avons commencé la mise en œuvre d'un système de soumission et d’évaluation en ligne, qui débutera d'ici quelques mois. Cela devrait, à la fois réduire le travail impliqué dans le suivi de chaque article et son statut, et d'améliorer la rapidité et la réactivité du processus d’évaluation.
Les articles à paraître sont désormais disponibles chez CUP, sur le site web de la revue, dès qu'ils sont prêts, en général plusieurs mois avant la publication du numéro dans lesquels ils figurent. Et enfin, grâce à l'excellent travail du personnel de CUP, nous avons une belle nouvelle couverture, ainsi qu'un effort de marketing beaucoup plus actif. J'attends avec impatience les défis et les surprises qu'apporteront les trois prochaines années.
