Summary
As you pull up to the National Records Center outside of Kansas City, Missouri, you realize why everyone keeps referring to it as “the Cave.” It is, quite literally, a cave. Your car enters a subterranean parking lot, the walls and columns of which are formed by rocky limestone outcroppings. The entrance is noticeable only because it is brightly lit, tucked deep within the parking area. After passing through a modest, though tightly controlled, security screening, you enter what could be any windowless office space filled with cubicles and specially reserved private offices, except that the same limestone rock occasionally intrudes, protrudes, or forms the walls of the areas through which you traverse.
