Through reading this book and carrying out the questions at the end of each chapter, we hope that you will have gained an understanding of some of the theory of audit. However, the real learning will only come with doing. So, now is the time to get out there and perform an audit of your own. Talk to your boss, find a problem that affects your unit and get stuck in.
You can use this book to help guide your audit and you will also pick up tricks of your own along the way. But above all, work in a team and enjoy the process. Audit is a process that will rarely succeed if you try to do it alone or impose it on others. So you will need to take your colleagues with you on the audit journey – and the best way to do this is to be enthusiastic and to work as a team.
You will be able to use audit throughout your career to improve health care for your patients. But the time to start is now – so go for it!
Let's do audit!
