We look to Elliott Smith's life through post-racionalism model to understand a desperate and painful existence that leads him to commit suicide
Born August 6, 1969 in Nebraska.
His parents divorced when he was six months old.
Smith was victim of physical and sexual abuse by his stepfather.
At age thirteen he moved to Portland to live with his father. He started using drugs.
He starts composing music to escape of his hard past.
1998. Smith was nominated for an Academy Award for “Miss Misery”, after this he falls into depression.
He makes his first suicide attempt by running off a cliff.
Smith's health began to deteriorate when started using heroin.
After breaking up with his then-girlfriend; he determined to rehab.
Elliott Smith died on October 21, 2003, at 34 years as a result of two self inflicted stabs to the chest.
Elliott would be considered a depresive personality.
In this type of attachment, parents are perceived as dismissive or indifferent.
