More than one million runners have joined the marathon games since 2007 in Taiwan. There were over 150 marathon games held in Taiwan in 2018. The increase rate was 21% as compared to that of 2014. The medical encounter rate was 1.33% in 2015 and increased to 1.41% in 2017. The most common type of injury was muscle spasm. The second most common was abrasion due to falls. The treatment for muscle spasm was RICE only. Cardiac arrest of marathon runners was reported occasionally and time is critical for rescue.
To shorten the rescue time of the runners in an emergency. Base on the prodromal research, BLE communication technology is further used to improve the rescue positioning communication technology in the marathon.
After rescue notification devices have been set up in each 0.5 km on the runway of the marathon, the runner can send a rescue signal through the rescue notification devices in case of emergency. The rescue signal, periodically advertisement SN# with rescue mark, of the runner can be precisely located and the rescue can be started very soon.
In the simulation, the rescue signal can be located in 7.5 minutes, fastest in 3 seconds. The precision rate of timing is ±160ms/6σ that under IAAF accuracy requirement. The location error is less than 20 meters, and the rescue time can be shortened to one half as before.
The rescue time of runner is correlated with the quality of marathon EMS. It is critical to the runner, especially in cardiac arrest. By using BLE communication devices, the runner can be located faster and more precisely. As rescue time shortened, CPR & AED can be given sooner. The quality of marathon EMS will be improved substantially.
A novel allergy biosensor is designed and fabricated by using thin film bulk acoustic resonator (TFBAR) devices with shear mode ZnO piezoelectric thin films. To fabricate TFBAR devices, the off-axis RF magnetron sputtering method for the growth of piezoelectric ZnO piezoelectric thin films is adopted. The influences of the relative distance and sputtering parameters are investigated. In this report, the piezoelectric ZnO thin films with tilting angle are set by controlling the deposition parameters. The properties of the shear mode ZnO thin films are investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The frequency response is measured using an HP8720 network analyzer with a CASCADE probe station. The resonance frequency of the shear mode is 796.75 MHz. The sensitivity of the shear mode is calculated to be 462.5 kHz·cm2/ng.
Five cyclic adducts C60C4H6, C60C5H6, C60NHCO2, C60NCO2Et, and C60CHCO2Et have been synthesized and their absorption and fluorescence spectral properties investigated and compared with those of the parent. Breaking the structural symmetry of C60 apparently resulted in enhancing the quantum yield two to three-folds in some adducts and thus made fluorescence much easier to be measured at room temperature. New absorption bands and altered fluorescence spectra were observed in the adducts. The Stokes' shifts of the adducts were small, about 4-5 nrm, compared to 68 nm for the parent compound. All the adducts exhibited a single fluorescence lifetime about the same as C60 (ca. 1.3 ns). Aliphatic solvents had little influence on the absorption or fluorescence spectral profile except on the molar absorptivity whereas aromatic and polar solvents strongly interacted with the adducts causing a peak broadening effect.
An AlGaAs/InGaAs HEMT grown on Si substrate with Ge/GexSi1−x buffer is demonstrated. The Ge/GexSi1−x metamorphic buffer layer used in this structure was only 1.0 μgm thick. The electron mobility in the In0.18Ga0.82 As channel of the HEMT sample was 3,550 cm2/Vs. After fabrication, the HEMT device demonstrated a saturation current of 150 mA/mm and a maximum transconductance of 155 mS/mm. The well behaved characteristics of the HEMT device on the Si substrate are believed to be due to the very thin buffer layer achieved and the lack of the antiphase boundaries (APBs) formation and Ge diffusion into the GaAs layers.
