Call for Papers—2008 UK History of Economic Thought Conference: The 40th annual UK History of Economic Thought Conference will be held at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, September 3-5. The conference will retain its traditional intimate format, with substantial time devoted to the presentation and discussion of each of the papers. Papers on all aspects of the history of economics and economic thought are welcome. Those wishing to present a paper at the conference should send an abstract of 500 words to the conference organizer, Professor Steven Medema, by email at or via post to Department of Economics, CB 181, University of Colorado at Denver, Denver, CO 80217-3364, USA. The deadline for receipt of proposals is April 1, 2008, and decisions will be made by April 15, 2008.

HES History of Economics Working Papers on SSRN: The HES and the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) are pleased to announce the publication of History of Economics Abstracts (an email abstracting journal distributed by the Economics Research Network of the Social Sciences Research Network), which promotes communication among scholars interested in all aspects of the history of economic thought. Abstracts of both working papers and accepted papers are published. Kevin Hoover, Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Duke University is serving as editor. Work related to all periods and to any schools of economic thought are welcome, as is work that situates economics in wider intellectual and cultural contexts or relates it to other disciplines. Work related to the history of closely cognate disciplines (e.g., statistics with economic applications or economic sociology) is also accepted. Essentially, any work that touches the history of economics as a discipline or that would be of interest to scholars working in such an area is encouraged. Call for Papers—Public Goods, Externalities, Public Decision Making: A Perspective from the History of Economic Thought: A conference on Public Goods, Externalities, Public Decision Making: A Perspective from the History of Economic Thought will be held in Paris from December 11-13, 2008. The conference will take place at ERMES and Panthéon-Assas University, and the keynote speaker will be Sir Alan Peacock. All topics relevant to the domain of Public Economics, broadly understood, are welcome, including: theory of the state, public expenditure and revenue, public decision-making, regulation, externalities, social security and insurance, equity, justice, and also study of national traditions of thought in the field. Historical perspectives on public economics from other disciplines—for example the philosophy of law and political philosophy—are also sought. Please submit proposals in the form of an abstract of no more than 700 words before May 15, 2008 to Professor Gilbert Faccarello at .

Call for Papers—HETSA 2008: The 21st History of Economic Thought Society of Australia Conference will be held at the University of Western Sydney, Parramatta over 9-11 July, 2008, Papers on all aspects of the history of economics and economic thought are welcome.
