On April 10, 2018 during the opening ceremony of the The 3rd International symposium on High Power Laser Science and Engineering (HPLSE 2018), two articles from the journal High Power Laser Science and Engineering (HPL) were recognized as the 2016 & 2017 Editor-in-Chief Choice Awarded Papers. Authors of each article received a certificate and a bonus of ¥10,000 from Colin Danson, the co-editor-in-chief of HPL. The award is sponsored by Chinese Laser Press (CLP).
The 2016 awarded article is titled "Measuring vacuum polarization with high-power lasers" authored by Dr. Ben King and Dr. Tom Heinzl from Plymouth University (UK). Dr. Ben King was presented the award at the ceremony.
The 2017 awarded article is titled "Targets for high repetition rate laser facilities: needs, challenges and perspectives" authored by a joint team from multiple affiliations including Helmholtz–Zentrum Dresden–Rossendorf (Germany), LULI – CNRS (France), University of Pennsylvania (USA), ELI-Beamlines project (Czech Republic), Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan), University of St. Andrews (UK), etc. Dr. Lingen Huang from Helmholtz–Zentrum Dresden–Rossendorf was presented the award on behalf of all the authors at the ceremony.
About the Editor-in-Chief Choice Award
The Editor-in-Chief Choice Award-winning papers are selected by a panel of experts including Editors-in-Chief of Chinese Laser Press' three English-language journals - High Power Laser Science and Engineering (HPL), Photonics Research (PR), and Chinese Optics Letters (COL). The papers are evaluated based on the quality, downloads, citations, and the importance of the work to the field.
