This paper presents a comprehensive review of the up to date knowledge on nuclear species of Z>2 from solar flares. It covers the following five topics:

  1. (I) Solar flare particles of energies >15 MeV n-1 and solar composition;

  2. (II) solar flare particles of energies >15 MeV n-1, the enrichment of heavier elements;

  3. (III) theoretical interpretation of the enrichment;

  4. (IV) the charge states of solar particles; and

  5. (V) isotopic abundances of solar flare particles.
