1 The fact that the Persons of the Trinity have the same act of esse is the deepest reason for their unity of essence (see I Sent., 2, 1, 4).

2 Aquinas only uses the word litteralis in the different context of distinguishing the sensus historicus vel litteralis from the various non-literal senses of scripture.
