page 436 note 1 Bu. 91–5–9, 318 gives the usual oath in the contract as follows: “They have invoked the spirit of Šamaš and Immerum, the spirit of Merodach and Sumula-ila,” showing the period to which we must assign the former (Immerum), though we have no clue to his position with regard to the recognized ruler. Meissner seems to regard him as a usurper.

page 436 note 2 It is this which occurs so frequently in the Tel-el-Amarna tablets as the name of two rulers—one of Lachish and the other of Sidon.
