Placenta praevia and placenta praevia accreta – a review of aetiology, diagnosis and management

Abstract
Placenta praevia describes a placenta which partially or completely lies within the lower segment of the uterus. It is a major cause of antepartum haemorrhage and when it obstructs the internal os prevents safe vaginal delivery of the fetus.
