Résumé

L'organisation de l'espace interlamellaire des vermiculites a été comparée en fonction: (i) de la nature du cation (Mg, Ni, Ca, Sr et Ba) et de son état d'hydratation (bicouche, monocouche et anhydre), (ii) de la nature du feuillet (charge et localisation des substitutions). Le facteur prépondérant, celui qui confère à l'espace interlamellaire son caractère ordonné ou non, est la nature du cation en particulier sa taille et son degré d'hydratation. La charge du feuillet apparaît comme un facteur complémentaire, elle limite la taille des domaines ordonnés.

The structure of the interlayer space of vermiculites is examined as a function of: (i) the nature of the cation (Mg, Ni, Ca, Sr, Ba) and its hydration state (two-layers, monolayer, anhydrous) and (ii) the nature of the silicate layer (magnitude and location of the lattice charge). The main factor influencing the extent of ‘ordering’ within the interlayer space is the exchangeable cation, in particular its size and degree of hydration. The silicate layer charge is of secondary importance inasmuch as it limits the size of the ‘ordered’ interlamellar regions.

Es wurde die Struktur der Zwischenschichten von Vermiculit untersucht als Funktion von: (i) der Art des Kations (Mg, Ni, Ca, Sr, Ba) und seines Hydratationsgrades (2-lagig, monolagig, unhydratisiert) und (ii) der Art der Silikatschicht (Größe und Lage der Gitterladung). Der Hauptfaktor, der den Grad der ‘Ordnung’ innerhalb einer Zwischenschicht bestimmt, ist das austauschbare Kation, insbesondere seine Größe und der Hydratationsgrad. Die Ladung der Silikatschicht ist nur von zweitrangiger Bedeutung, insofern als dadurch die Größe der ‘geordneten’ Zwischenschicht bestimmt wird.

Se examina la estructura del espacio interlamelar de vermiculitas en función de: (i) la naturaleza del catión (Mg, Ni, Ca, Sr, Ba) y su estado de hidratación (dos capas, monocapa, anhidro, y (ii) la naturaleza de la capa de silicato (magnitud y localización de la carga reticular). El factor principal que influye en la cantidad de ‘ordenación’ dentro del espacio interlamelar es el catión intercambiable, de modo particular su tamaño y el grado de hidratación. La carga de la capa de silicato es de importancia secundaria, en tanto que limita el tamaño de las regiones interlamelares ‘ordenadas’.
