The difference is not in the meaning, but in the choice of an antecedent to τo⋯τo. εί δ' ἄρα τo⋯τo τ⋯χνη means ‘but if the form of the bed is artificial’, τo⋯τo. εί δ' ἄρα τo⋯τo φ⋯σισ means ‘but if the wood is true nature’.
