Noninvasive diagnosis of coronary arterial fistulas using multiplanar cine magnetic resonance imaging

Abstract

In three children with coronary arterial fistulas, two extending from the right coronary artery to the right atrium and one from the left circumflex coronary artery to the right ventricle, multiplanar cine magnetic resonance imaging was able accurately to demonstrate dilation of the involved coronary artery, the tortuous nature of the dilated fistulas, blood flow within the fistulas, and luminal narrowing. The technique provides a new adjunct for management of patients, especially young children, with coronary arterial fistulas.
