Abstract

The species of the subgenus Castaneomyzocallis subg. nov. (genus Myzocallis) are found in North America on Castanea. Four species are classified in this subgenus: M. (C.) castaneae (Fitch) (type of subgenus); M. (C.) tissoti nom. nov.; M. (C.) nanae (Tissot); and M. (C.) castaneoides (Baker). The neotype of M. (C.) castaneae is established. The alate viviparae, the embryos, and the alatoid nymphs of M. (C.) castaneae, M. (C.) castaneoides, M. (C.) tissoti, and M. (C.) nanae are described. A key for the identification of the new subgenus is given. Attention is drawn to variations that may be caused by seasonal factors.

Résumé

Les espèces du sous-genre Castaneomyzocallis subg. nov. (genre Myzocallis) vivent en Amérique du Nord sur Castanea. Quatre espèces sont classées dans le sous-genre : M. (C.) castaneae (Fitch) (type du sous-genre); M. (C.) tissoti nom. nov.; M. (C.) nanae (Tissot); et M. (C.) castaneoides (Baker). Le néotype de M. (C.) castaneae est établi. Les ailés vivipares, les embryons et les nymphes de M. (C.) castaneae, M. (C.) castaneoides, M. (C.) tissoti et M. (C.) nanae sont décrits. On fournit une clé pour l’identification des espèces du nouveau sous-genre. Une attention particulière est apportée aux variations que pourraient être attribuées aux facteurs saisonniers.
